Retaining ring is a common mechanical component mainly used to prevent the axial or upward movement of parts, ensuring the stability and reliability of mechanical components. According to different classification standards, retaining rings can be divided into various types, each with its specific application and characteristics.

Classified by function:

Hole retaining ring: installed inside the hole to fix the parts installed inside the hole (such as the outer ring of rolling bearings) and prevent the parts from exiting the hole.
Shaft retaining ring: installed on the shaft to fix the parts installed on the shaft (such as the inner ring of rolling bearings), preventing the parts from exiting the shaft.
Classified by shape:

Flat retaining ring: A separable, essentially flat washer whose inner or outer part serves as the outer or inner ring edge of a radial cylindrical roller bearing.
Diagonal retaining ring: a separable ring with an L-shaped cross-section, whose outer side serves as the inner retaining edge of a radial roller ball bearing.
Center ring: A separable ring in two or more rows of roller bearings, used to separate and guide each row of rollers.
Classified by material:

Carbon spring steel retaining rings: have high strength, hardness, elasticity, and hardenability, suitable for applications that require high strength and toughness.

Stainless steel retaining ring: corrosion-resistant, suitable for applications in high-temperature environments.
PTFE retaining ring: It has excellent characteristics such as acid and alkali resistance, high temperature resistance, and wear resistance, and is suitable for sealing pressure and service life of various sealing rings.

Classified by structure:

Open end retaining ring: also known as open end card or E-type card, mainly used for axial positioning on the bearings of machines.
Elastic retaining ring: including shaft and hole elastic retaining rings, which are clamped into the shaft groove or hole through elastic deformation to prevent axial displacement of the parts.
Spiral elastic retaining ring: made of flat metal wire, it has good elasticity and toughness, and is suitable for applications that withstand large stress or require rotation.
